The Russian long-jump sensation, Darya Klishina has been signed by the global fashion, sports and media company, IMG Worldwide for their future endorsements. Klishina will be featuring in the endorsements, marketing and sponsorship opportunities across all business areas. Still in her early twenties, the winner of the European Athletics Indoor Championships long jump title last month, Klishina is one of the brightest hopes of the Russian and European athletics.
IMG is a sports, media and entertainment business running globally with almost three thousand employees in around thirty countries across the globe. The areas of expertise of IMG include IMG’s Joint Ventures in China, India and Brazil, IMG Models, IMG Events, IMG Media, IMG Fashion, IMG Clients, IMG Consulting, IMG Art and Commerce, IMG Academies and IMG Licensing. Klishina expressed her happiness for having IMG managing the business aspects related to her career. In a recent interview, Klishina went on to say that IMG has been representing some of the greatest athletes and she considers herself to be fortunate enough to find a place among those prestigious sports people.
Klishina’s commercial endorsements will be managed by the IMG team led by Alexei Nikolaev in Europe and Olivier Van Lindonk in the U.S. After some years, the long-jumper will be able to make use of the world-class training facilities of Bradenton and Florida as a part of her training programme.
Being the child of active parents and field enthusiasts, Moscow based Klishina started playing volleyball at the age of eight, soon after which she was noticed by the field coach for her outstanding talents. Shortly after that, she began to compete in the full-time track and field events. Some of the major achievements of Klishina as a junior sportsperson include, collecting the World Youth Championship and the Junior Championship titles.
The year 2010 saw one of the greatest achievements of Klishina when she won two Diamond League events. She is considered to be a major contender for the medals of the Olympic games of 2012 after achieving her personal best of 7.03 in 2010.
Apart from IMG, the current endorsement portfolio of Klishina includes multi-year agreements with Redbull and Nike. When asked in an interview, about her win at the European Athletics Indoor Championship, Klishina remarked that her performance was not at all impressive. Klishina stated about some psychological problems she was facing as a reason for not being selected at the European Athletics Championship in Barcelona.
